Sing You Now After Me

Let's Sing Catches!

Learn Catches - Videos

Want to learn some Tudor/Jacobean round and catches? This playlist contains informal videos of me and some singers trying out some catches. Listen and sing along! (You’ll find the lyrics in the description under each video).

Look out for the Tudor version of ‘London’s Burning’ (Scotland it burneth), drinking songs, Tudor street cries and bells,  tongue-twisters, love songs, and a compilation of Tudor dance tunes. Some are very simple – others offer a little more challenge!

I’ll be adding to this playlist throughout the project. Scores and lyric sheets also to follow.

Workshops for Schools or Youth Groups

Are you a teacher in a school or college in the vicinity of Newcastle? Or do you lead a Brownie, Guide, Scout or other Youth Club in the area? Would the young people enjoy a workshop singing rounds and catches? Workshops are available throughout 2024/25. Get in touch via the contact page to book a workshop.

Catch-singing workshops can be tailored to various ages from 7 upwards. They can be accessible to those with no singing experience and there’s no need to read music!

For older school groups with some music reading ability (treble clef) workshops on composing rounds and catches are also available.

Come and Sing Catches at Kiplin Hall!

This summer we’ll be leading some singing in Kiplin Hall‘s lovely Jacobean long gallery – the perfect setting! Stop by to learn a simple catch or two, with sessions starting every half hour. Family friendly. All ages welcome!

Dates: 3 May and 2 August 2025, 11am-2pm.
