Investigating transness as a vital cultural standpoint
Trans Performance Now is a research project investigating trans-led cultural production in the UK through interviews and R&D Grants. Key questions include: What is 'transness' beyond testimony? What are the opportunities and challenges for producing trans-led cultural works today? How have performance makers and producers responded to an era of increased trans visibility and scrutiny? The overall objective is to examine the vital cultural standpoints provided by transgender artists for a fair and just society.

Project Partners
R&D Grants
To provide case studies on the producing of trans performance, the project will support several projects in collaboration with our venue partners in London, Newcastle and Glasgow.
The PI and the partners will work with the selected artists to document, reflect upon and develop performance works that explore 'transness' in an era of increased visibility and scrutiny.
