Warmth and Fuelling Health in Britain, 1918-2022
Carbon Bodies uncovers how the pursuit of warmth and everyday health became increasingly dependent on fossil fuels in twentieth century Britain.
This was not a universal experience. Bodily and health vulnerabilities were exacerbated by uneven access to heat. The project explores how this energy inequality was managed through policy and across the welfare state.
This a three-year Wellcome Trust funded Career Development Award project led by Dr Rebecca Wright and Dr Kathy Davies at Northumbria University, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
